MATW releases sold out: the Bad Form 7", Urban Waste 12", Nihilistics LP

We've had a few releases sell out here at Mad at the World headquarters in the past few weeks.

First off, the Bad Form 7". We stopped distributing this years ago, and only a handful of copies were sitting around here that we kept on hand for mail order. But we just sold our last copy of this. Good luck tracking it down.

Aside from that, the Nihilistics LP is sold out as well. This was the second pressing we've done of the LP, and while we would like to re-press it, it probably won't happen until 2008. We've been discussing pressing up a CD version of this record, which would probably come out before an LP re-press. So, if you'd like a copy of the vinyl any time soon, I'd recommend hitting up some of the distributors and stores who had copies as of late: Armageddon Shop in Providence, RI; BP Distro, Sorry State Records, Sound Central Store in Montreal, Going Underground Records, No Way Records, and some of the other usual suspects.

Lastly, the Urban Waste 12" is also sold out now in its second press pressing of 500 copies on red vinyl. Most of the copies went to our distributors (Ebullition, Revolver, Stickfigure, Matador direct, X-Mist, Green Hell, and the like), so check with them.

We're running low on Deride LPs and Battletorn- Terminal Dawn LPs, so those will be the next to go!

Battletorn's farewell to NYC show

Message from the band:

6/17/07
Played the farewell to NYC show last night at Rock Star Bar- with some of our best friends in the NYC 'music world'. Jesse (from HWLTW) did his one man band VISHANTI, then ROXY PAIN jammed out which was awesome to see Kayrock, Wolfy, OJ and Mike rock on this eve, next was William's other band HOCKSTEDDER with Dave (ex-HWLTW) and John (ex-GFM)- that was killer too!
The highlight was a reunited (for this show only) PROWLER- who destroyed! We love these guys (and gal)- Orin, Rob, Zach, Tom, and Courtney totally killled it!
And then it was time for BATTLETORN to play. We hit the 'stage' and did 7 songs as a two piece, and then Beverly came up and we did 5 songs from the first LP which ruled. It was great to play with her again and felt like it brought things back to complete the path. There was total mayhem in the crowd- some people in strange lingere dancing... it was everything we could have wanted for a farewell to NYC show!
Thanks to DJ TEETH for spinning the tunes, everyone who came and hung out, and thanks the herds of random and very fashionable ladies who seemed to swarm the place last night for reasons unbeknownst to us!
BATTLETORN isn't over, we'll just be separated by 1000 miles so recording/shows will be less frequent. If a cool tour offer or show offer comes in we'll do it, otherwise we'll meet up when we can to play random dive bars wherever and whenever we can, because after all that's what we do best!
Until next time.....

Nihilistics LP on Anthology Recordings now (+ LP sold out!)

Anthology Recordings just went live with the Nihilistics LP on their digital shop. And just in time because Mad at the World just sold out of the vinyl version of the first Nihilistics LP. We'd like to repress this record, but in all likelihood it will take us a while to do so (probably not until 2008, and we'd like to do a CD pressing before getting to the vinyl), so pick up the LP where you can find it. A lot of the usual suspects might still have copies-- check some of your favorite labels as we traded with some folks in the past months (ie. Painkiller, Havoc, No Way, Sorry State, Grave Mistake, KNOW, etc etc etc....) Once they're sold out, you'll have to wait a little bit....

Battletorn return from tour + say goodbye to New York

Battletorn returned from their 3 week tour in great spirits and had quite a lot of fun. In the meantime, their "Terminal Dawn" record is selling quite a lot, and it looks we'll be selling out of it in no time. The summer should see the release of "Terminal Dawn" on CD format on Mad at the World, but once this vinyl is gone, it'll be out of print for good.

The sad news is that Battletorn will play their farewell show to New York City on Saturday, June 16th in Brooklyn at the Rock Star Bar. It'll be free, and their friends' bands will playing, so it'll be more a wild party than a show.

This won't be the end of Battletorn entirely as they'll still have some interesting tricks up their sleeve, but as Omid moves south this month, it'll be the end of regular Battletorn gigs in New York and the days of Battletorn randomly showly up places to pummel audiences with their 10 minute long sets of thrash mania will be over. So be sure to come by and celebrate!

MATW's Urban Waste reissue on Anthology Recordings!

New York City punk label Mad at the World Records teams up with Anthology Recordings, the world's first all- digital reissue label, to offer some of Mad at the World's popular, early 80's New York hardcore reissues. This will be the first time Mad at the World's reissues are available in mp3 format in an online store, and Anthology will be the sole digital distributor for the next 6 months. Anthology just went live with the first record slated for release, the classic sole EP by the enigmatic Queens band Urban Waste, of whom Roger of Agnostic Front has said "they're the band that got me into hardcore!" At the end of the month, Anthology will offer up the second release, the reissue of the Nihilistics' debut album from 1983, one of the NYHC originals who were featured on the early "NY Thrash" compilation alongside the Beastie Boys and the Bad Brains. Rounding it out will then be the Urban Waste spin-off band Major Conflict (which feature the now-successful author and director of "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," Dito Montiel on guitar and vocals) and their retrospective "Sounds Like 1983."

Battletorn- Terminal Dawn RELEASED! & TOUR!

News on the Battletorn front:

"This week we got the final components of and assembled the new BATTLETORN album, it's ready to go! Titled "Terminal Dawn" it's a 16 track LP on MAD AT THE WORLD RECORDS, limited to 500 #'ed copies in killer matte finish gatefold sleeves! AND, the first 100 copies come with a big 18"x24" poster in there too! We're all very happy and proud of how it came out, we've been working on it for a while and the results were exactly as we envisioned. And those who have heard it say it's our most ruthless to date, a non-stop assault!!!

[If you pick it up from the Mad at the World webstore we have a few of the "special celebratory Battletorn deal!" left that bundles this new album with their previous "Burn Fast" 7" on MATW, and "Evil Chains" LP on Troubleman Unlimited.]

"Battletorn are going out for about 3 weeks across the US to play a bunch of stuff off the album and rage from coast to coast! The dates are below, and the best part is that the first 9 shows are with our good friends and one of our favorite bands ever: MIDNIGHT!! After TX we split off from them and head to the west coast, where we're getting to play at birthday party/ jam session for Robby from BITCH, and BITCH is even playing at this thing! Plus in Portland we play with THRONES, and there's so many other killer bands on the bills we're playing too- it's gonna be a fun tour!

The dates that are below, there are a couple that are still 'tentative' so check the web site for info on those and for more detailed info on the tour. Hope to see some of you out there on the road, if you live in one of these towns come say hey!! It may well be the last full US tour we're going to do, as Christine and I will be moving to Nashville not long after we return.

Anyways, that's all for now- there's a chance we may try and set up some last minute 'record release party' next week to see our NYC friends and play out here one last time before we hit the road- if that happens you'll get another email from me. But if not, see you soon!"

Later!
Omid

the Arsons re-launch website/ play NYC show!

To coincide with their new album on Mad at the World, the long-awaited "Too True to Be Good," the Arsons' redesigned and relaunched their website. In addition, they debuted a fan-directed video for the song "Imods" off the new album on youtube.

Finally, lucky New Yorkers can head out to Cake Shop on Ludlow Street in Manhattan on April 15th for their show with with the Shemps, Blackout Shoppers, and Toronto's Brutal Knights. Unfortunately for those who are underage, this show will be 21 and over, but other shows are about to be announced shortly. Check back for more info,
